Growing Through the Holidays: Houseplant Propagation & Lettuce from Seed

Thursday | Oct 22 | 10:00 AM — 12:00 PM 3309 Burlington Rd, Greensboro, NC 27405, USA

REGISTRATION REQUIRED- REGISTER HERE ON EVENTBRITE

This is a free workshop, but we are asking that all participants bring (2) non perishable canned food items for our holiday food drive.

Learning to grow and propagate your own plants is a meaningful way to create unique, cost-effective gifts for friends and family during the upcoming holiday season.

In this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of houseplant propagation, including simple techniques to create new plants from existing ones. **Attendees are encouraged to bring a houseplant from home for personalized guidance and support with propagating their own cuttings.

In addition, participants will plant a container of lettuce seeds to take home, providing an opportunity to explore easy, limited-space food production during the winter season. A financial literacy component will also be included, highlighting the costs associated with purchasing plants versus propagating and growing your own, and offering practical tips for saving money through gardening.

This workshop is ideal for individuals and families interested in building gardening skills, growing their own food, and making cost-conscious choices this holiday season. All ages from children to adults are welcome and encouraged to participate. Art supplies will be available so children or those who like to add an artistic touch to things can decorate their lettuce planters and enjoy a hands-on, creative gardening experience.

**If you would like to participate in the hands-on portion of the plant propagation, please bring a houseplant from home that you would like to propagate.

This class is part of Guilford County Cooperative Extension’s Holiday Class Series exploring a variety of topics throughout the holiday season.
