Digital Nature Journaling: Using Merlin & iNaturalist to Observe, Record, and Reflect
Audience: Adult naturalists, birders, walkers, curious community members
Time: 2 hours (early evening, mid-June)
Format: 1 hour outdoors + 1 hour indoors
Devices: Participants’ smartphones + ~15 shared laptops
Primary Tools: Merlin Bird ID, iNaturalist / Seek, smartphone camera, Google Photos (Albums)
Join us for a hands-on evening exploring how simple digital tools can deepen your connection to nature. Participants will take a guided walk using apps like Merlin Bird ID and iNaturalist to capture bird sounds, plant photos, and observations, then return indoors to begin creating a personal digital nature journal and learn easy ways to organize and share what they discover. No prior experience required.
