Learn how to take the next step towards building a successful farming operation. Designed for new and beginner farmers and agricultural operations, this six-week course will introduce you to many of the hurdles in establishing an agricultural operation in an Urban setting.

Classes will be held
Tuesdays, 6-8 p.m. from
February 28th – April 4th, 2023,

The program is free to Guilford County Residents, but registration is required.

This course is designed for both newer and beginning operations, but experienced farmers are encouraged to attend. Curriculum designed and presented by NC State Faculty.

Classes will cover the following topic areas:
• Basics of Designing and Implementing an Urban Agricultural Operation
• Getting Started in Local Foods
• Soil Health and Management
• Vegetable and Fruit Production
• Animal Production and Husbandry
• Agricultural Business Planning and Record Keeping
• Post-Harvest Operations and Agricultural Marketing

• Cole Maness- Guilford County Livestock Agent
• Crystal Mercer- Guilford County Community and School Gardens Agent
• Derek Washburn- NC State Farm Business Management Extension Associate
