N.C. Cooperative Extension in Guilford County welcomed youth livestock exhibitors back to the show ring in 2021 with a new show series and a new season-end award. The Spring Show-N -Go series offered shows for beef cattle, dairy cattle, sheep, and goats. These shows offered youth the opportunity to show their animals earlier in the year and gain valuable feedback from the judges to prepare them for the prime summer and fall show season. In addition to the new Show-N-Go series, Guilford County hosted the annual Greensboro District Dairy Youth Show and the Guilford County 4-H Livestock Show. All of the 2021 shows in Guilford County were sponsored by NC Farm Bureau of Guilford County.

Twenty twenty-one was also the inaugural year for the Guilford County 4-H Ultimate Showman Award. This award allowed youth who showed in any show hosted by Guilford county to earn points towards the award. Points were awarded in the individuals’ showmanship classes, where the exhibitor is judged on their ability to properly handle their animal in the show ring. The award is offered in three age categories; Junior (8-10), Intermediate (11-13), and Senior (14-18). We are pleased to announce our award recipients for 2021.
