Kids, young and old, that came out to the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market in Colfax on Saturday, June 6th, were treated to games and activities by Guilford County 4-H in celebration of June Dairy Month! Market goers participated in “Tic Tac Cow” – bean bag toss, “Can You Milk the Cow?” and other dairy games provided by the Guilford County 4-H Livestock Club and the Go Getters 4-H Club. There was even a dairy calf from Gerringer Farm’s for market goers to pet and an interactive learning station to teach how much a dairy cow eats each day. Participants received baseballs, t-shirts, got Milk? stickers, and other dairy promotional items donated by the Southeast Dairy Association. The highlight of 4-H Dairy Days was the homemade ice cream churn off. 5 contestants vied for the cash prizes of $150 thanks to Organic Valley. ...............And the winner of the 2009 4-H Dairy Days Ice Cream Churn off is....................
