- Be Flexible- take time to explore your senses. Listen to the wind & smell the flowers. Make sure your child(ren) know that you always have time for them.
- Set Limits- Consistency is key. Be firm when you need to be but always show love. Discipline is necessary but does not have to be negative. Offer alternatives to less-than-ideal behaviors. For instance, if a child is unhappy and wants to throw a tantrum because they wanted extra time watching tv, offer an extra five minutes to read a book if their behavior improves. Not only will they gain knowledge and improve their reading skills, but they will also learn how to redirect negative energy.
- Be the Example- Show your kids what a productive citizen is. Take time to speak to others as you would want to be spoken to. Do not easily get angry, find ways to cope and deal with stress. Set an example.
