Returning for 2025, our dairy calf project offers youth a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with dairy cattle. Each participant is paired with another to work together in halter-breaking a Jersey calf provided by the NC A&T Dairy Unit. The calves remain at the Dairy Unit throughout the project, where the youth meet for practice every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Beginning on June 17th, the project runs through July 15th, culminating in the Greensboro District 4-H Junior Dairy Show. This experience teaches youth how to properly care for and train a dairy calf while also helping them develop valuable life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, patience, and confidence in a show setting.
Cost is $20 per Youth
Open to Ages 5 - 18 (Age as of Jan 1, 2025)
