Whether you all have five established farmer's markets or a simple congregation of farmer's stands, you have the opportunity to know your farmer's market.  A lot of times the market can be very intimidating with a lot of moving parts especially if you are not a person who doesn't like large crowds.  A few tips for getting to know your local market, as well as the vendors are outlined below.

• If your farmer's market is open during the week, take the time to visit the market.  It won't be as crowded as Saturday, and you will get a chance to see things such as the layout, upcoming events, and what type of vendors are regularly at the market.  You will also be able to engage in more conversations with vendors along with possibly meeting the market manager.
• Talking to the market manager will give you some insight into what vendors will be at the market on certain days and what produce is in season.  They can tell you about upcoming events that may not be listed as well as tell you about any amenities that the market may have such as a shared-use kitchen space.  The market manager may be found walking around the market floor, in their office, or at the general info table if the market has one.

• Build a relationship with vendors, especially with those that you frequent.  Building a relationship with farmers and the other vendors will allow you to gain insider information on what they may be bringing to the next market day. They may also give you an extra discount or throw in some extra items into your order. Some will even give you the opportunity to come to their farm.
