Vignette Coffee Roasters, a local coffee roastery located off of I-40 on Market Street co-founded by partners Michael Harwood and Mandy Spirito is thriving in

Greensboro. Vignette has become a staple in the community and has built a reputation as the coffee expert in Guilford County and beyond. They've laid the foundation of what it means to source beans from growers around the world ethically and equitably while building trusted relationships with their growers. Whenever I visit their roastery I can ask questions about each grower and learn about their story and who I may be supporting if I purchase the coffee beans. Meaningful, mutually beneficial partnerships are at the bottom of every Vignette cup.

Michael and Mandy have many years of experience in the art of coffee. From telling of the history of coffee beans to the art of making the best cup for the house, Michael and Mandy are the subject matter experts.  Michael is a championship-winning Barista and has competed internationally as a Barista. So you can say that when he makes a cup of coffee it is second to none. Mandy brings a wealth of experience when it comes to roasting and processing the beans for optimal flavor and quality. Together they both

run a well-oiled machine and believe it or not. It's just the two of them right now, but they would love to bring others on the team to pour into and guide in the art of coffee.

Though they have many years of coffee industry experience, Michael reached out to the N.C. Cooperative Extension, Guilford County Center about three years ago to gather information on what it would look like to place a coffee roastery in Greensboro and what regulations he needs to adhere to. I was able to help him by sharing the NCDA regulation resources and information on the layout of the county and where he might find success in the placement of the roaster. Fast forward to 2024 and they are thriving as a community staple and bragging right for Guilford County Coffee lovers. They deliver their beans to five or more local coffee shops in Guilford County. They've built partnerships nationwide and currently ship their beans to multiple places throughout the United States.
