The Guilford County Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers invite you to join them on Saturday, August 22, 2026 to participate in the Great Southeast Pollinator Census.

When: Saturday, August 22, 2026 10:00 am- 1:00 pm

Where: N.C. Cooperative Extension Demonstration Garden 3309 Burlington Rd., Greensboro, NC

Attendees can participate anywhere from 15 minutes to the full 3 hours according to their preference, and may come at any point during the 10:00am-1:00pm time period. One count takes 15 minutes, and participants can take as many counts as they would like.

Upon arrival, participants will be given instructions and a data sheet, then choose a plant. They will count each time a pollinator lands on the plant they’re observing (tally marks on their data sheet) for a period of 15 minutes, then they can turn in their data sheet and MG volunteers will enter the information for them. At that point they can be finished or get another data sheet, choose another plant, and repeat as desired. It’s easy, a great way to get outside and get some fresh air, and help collect data on pollinators, vital members of our garden ecosystems.

Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers will be on site to assist you.

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census is a citizen science project created by the University of Georgia. This project is designed for everyone to participate and make a difference for pollinator conservation! Watch the video to learn more about how to join the count.
