Description: Join the NC Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Guilford County for a lively and informative gardening presentation each month through the fall season. These “Lunch and Learn” sessions are all scheduled from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm: no refreshments are provided, but participants are welcome to bring and eat lunch during the program. Take a mid-day break from your schedule and talk gardening with friends!

One of the many joys of gardening is the chance to observe and support nature. Birds, butterflies, and other creatures find habitat in our yards – this program is about how to make them welcome. We’ll also talk about a few ways to discourage any uninvited guests who may sometimes come to the party.

Every participant will leave the workshop with the PLT K-8 Activity Guide which includes 96 activities correlated to the NC Standard Course of Study and Essential Standards. The PLT activity guides are provided free of charge to participants through support from the NC Forestry Association. CEU renewal credits are available. This workshop qualifies for Criteria I in the EE Certification Program.

Differentiated instruction? Technology connections? Literature links? STEM? The PLT activity guide covers it all!!! The PreK-8 guide is correlated to the Common Core (math and ELA) as well as to the NC Essential Standards (science and social studies). Participants will learn about the materials through direct engagement in the PLT activities throughout the workshop. Please bring a bag lunch and prepare to be outside!

Please make a personal commitment to attend to ensure there are enough materials and space for everyone. Parking directions will be sent prior to the workshop. Cancellations made by October 17th will receive a $10 refund. Cancellations after this date will not receive a refund.
