Description:

There will be a Fencing School on Tuesday, June 4 at the Piedmont Research Station in Salisbury, NC. The fencing school is for livestock producers raising any species of livestock (including equine). The school will help you understand the different types of fencing, budgets, and how to construct fences that will last.

The program will begin at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9 a.m. There will be a classroom session in the morning, followed by hands-on fence building in the afternoon. The day will conclude by 4 p.m. Topics that will be covered include a discussion regarding temporary versus permanent fencing, budget considerations, types of materials (post and wire), electric fencing, and safety. In the hands-on sessions, participants will have the opportunity to help set up electric fencing, learn about electric fence troubleshooting, and help construct a high tensile fence, including building an H-Brace.

Pre-registration is required for this workshop by May 30. You can register online at go.ncsu.edu/fencingschool2019 or contact Sara Drake, Livestock Extension Agent, at sadrake@ncsu.edu or at 336-242-2082. The cost is $25 per person, which includes session materials, lunch, and snacks. Your registration is not complete until payment is received.
