The name says everything! This is a tour of an urban farm made with heart and love of the community of High Point where they grow rich organic food to feed the soul and belly. The idea is to combat urban food insecurities and educate the community, especially the young, about how to grow good food locally and reconnect with the land (soil). This garden is part of a growing network of gardens in the Growing High Point urban farm project. The tour will begin promptly at 10:00 am and we will meet at the gate at 1300 Pershing Street, High Point NC. Parking is on the street so carpooling is recommended. Please keep in mind this is a working farm so wear weather appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear since you may need to ambulate uneven surfaces, narrow spaces and possibly steps. The tour is lead by Iya (Rory) Chavis, Extension Master GardenerSM Volunteer, and manager of the Heartical Produce Farmacy.
