Free horticulture classes are being offered beginning on September 13 and going through November 19, 2019. These classes will be held at the N.C. Cooperative Extension of Person County office, Thornton Library in Oxford, and the Granville County’s South Branch Library in Creedmoor. Please see schedule below for details about each class. PERSON COUNTY CLASSES

August 13 – Lawn Care Learn the basics of how to start and maintain a healthy lawn. I will discuss what types of turf can be used in this area, as well as how to care for these types of turf. Soil testing, fertilization, liming, mowing heights, herbicide timing, and much more will be covered in this lawn care program.

August 27 – Diagnostics: Disease and Insects Diagnosing the problem is the first step in solving any plant issue. This program will include what to look for when determining what is wrong with your plant. Find out which treatment is best to solve the issue that is affecting your plant.

September 3 – Basic Landscape Design Principles – Learn the basic steps of how to design your landscape in order to get the best use out of the space you have. This program will help understand some of the variables to consider when landscaping your yard.

September 24 – Home Fruit Gardening – Home gardening can be very gratifying. Learn how to keep it from being so frustrating. I will discuss what issues to look for in different crops and what fruit crops perform better in our area.

November 19 – Pruning Ornamental and Fruiting Plants – Pruning can be intimidating. This program will give you the knowledge to be more comfortable pruning your plants. How, when, where, and why to prune your plants will be discussed in this program.

Granville County Classes
