Did you know that gardening is considered our nation’s most popular pastime? Would you like to know how to garden more successfully? Do you want to learn about the science of gardening? Are you interested in sharing your knowledge with others? If so, you should become a North Carolina Extension Master GardenerSM volunteer!

NC Extension Master GardenerSM volunteers are people just like you who have an interest in gardening and wish to share their knowledge with others through volunteering with Cooperative Extension’s consumer horticulture education program. Our volunteers talk with thousands of Guilford County residents each year, sharing researched-based horticulture information and helping home gardeners learn to take better care of their lawns and gardens. While working on program activities, EMGVs develop friendships that can last a lifetime while having a positive impact on Guilford County’s residents and its environment.

For an application or more information, visit guilfordgardenanswers.org, contact Crystal Mercer, EMGV Coordinator at (336) 641-2414 or crystal_mercer@ncsu.edu. The Master Gardener application deadline is September 30. However, we accept Master Gardener applications year round.
