All classes take place at the Guilford County Ag Center located at 3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro. For more information, call Cooperative Extension at (336)641-2421. Class sizes are limited so register early! A registration form is provided at the end of this flier. Class fees are non-refundable. All programs are research-based, supporting Extension’s connection with the land-grant universities: North Carolina A&T State University, and North Carolina State University.

This program is designed for those who are trying to take a holistic approach to their fitness goals. Clients will be instructed in the proper movements and exercises in order to reduce weight, prevent chronic disease, build muscular strength and endurance, and build cardiovascular endurance. Upon completion of this 3 month program you will feel comfortable performing basic exercises and you will be on track to complete your fitness goals.
Package includes: One session of one-on-one training per week and weekly check on progress, a fitness assessment, goals and behavior modification plan, training plan and progressions, healthy eating initiative and basic nutrition advisory.

What is Canning?
A safe economical way to preserve quality food at home. Canning interrupts the normal spoiling and decaying cycle of food by heating the food contained in a home canning jar that has been closed with a two piece vacuum sealing cap. Canning homegrown foods may save you half the cost by buying commercially canned food. Canning your favorite and special products to be enjoyed by family and friends are fulfilling experience and source of pride for many people.
Chef and Child

It is time for Chef and Child Foundation activities in Guilford County. Join us as we fight childhood hunger by working hands on with children at the local Cooperative Extension office.
Chef and Child Foundation is the Charitable Branch of the American Culinary Federation that fights childhood hunger through education, fundraising, training and crisis intervention. The Triad Chapter sponsors programs similar to what we will be doing in Guilford County in 13 additional counties. These programs occur in June and July leading up to National Childhood Hunger Day. We focus on assisting children from low income or at risk households in the 8-12 year old age group. These kids have a great time cooking with the chefs and make for a great photo opportunity!

Get your children out of the house and active! They’ll have so much fun in this class… they’ll forget its EXERCISE! Lots of activities, music, dancing, and a whole lot of fun getting FIT! This class targets children ages 6-16 who are challenged by their weight. Boost your child’s self-esteem, increase social skills, and help them get healthier!
Med Instead Meds

The Med Instead of Meds class series will help you Go Med by exploring 7 simple steps to eating the Med Way. Learn Med tips, life hacks, and recipes that will help you eat the Med Way every day. Great tasting and good for you! The simple, delicious, and satisfying Med Way of eating will keep you coming back for more.
Extension Master Food Volunteer Program
Tuesdays, July 24-October 2, 5:30pm-7:30pm (No class August 7th)
EMFV program is delivered through North Carolina Cooperative Extension. This is a great learning opportunity, as well as a way to deepen your involvement with your community. Program requirements are: 30 hours of training in the EMFV curriculum, 30 hours of shadowing the agent who the volunteer will support, 20 hours of volunteer service per year, and 10 hours of continuing education per year. So in a nutshell, you will be trained, and then you will go out and share what you’ve learned with Guilford County residents.

EFNEP, Families Eating Smart and Moving More
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a free series of nutrition classes teaching families how to plan weekly meals, shop smart, food safety and how to move more throughout the day. During each session participants have the opportunity to prepare and taste a healthy recipe. 4-H Youth EFNEP
The 4-H Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is designed to help young people, kindergarten through grade 12, develop good eating and physical activity habits. The series of lessons are available free of charge to schools, after-school programs, summer camps, daycare centers, churches, recreation centers and others. Classes are FUN and include kitchen safety, food preparations and tastings, games and other hands-on activities!
