Lawn & Garden

Gardening is considered our nation's most popular pastime, yielding fresh fruits and vegetables for the dinner table, a cleaner environment and aesthetically pleasing landscapes. North Carolina Cooperative Extension helps gardeners learn more about new plants, native plants and environmental stewardship. Extension-trained Master Gardener volunteers are instrumental in these efforts, sharing their knowledge of plant selection, cultural practices and pest management with fellow gardeners, school students and others.

Come see how our gardens are growing! Please join us for the Second Tour of Guilford County's Community Gardens! This Event is being held on Thursday July 22 from 5-8 PM. The Community gardens are as diverse as the communities that garden them. On this tour, there will be an array of garden located through out the county. This is a self-guided tour - come see one or all of the gardens. You can learn what your friends and neighbors are doing in order to provide better, more wholesome foods for their families while saving on the grocery bill and in many cases contributing fresh vegetables to those in need in our community. This event is sponsored by North Carolina Cooperative Extension in Guilford County and the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers. The Master Gardeners serving as garden mentors along with the plot holders will be available to answer questions.
